Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer (IC4) for a 6-month contract to cover paternity leave. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the discovery features within the app, a key area that significantly contributes to the premium services offered. The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running and independently deliver high-quality code.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with a team of 3 engineers to enhance and maintain the discovery features in the app.
Implement and optimize features such as 'swiping', 'recommended people', and other premium matching services.
Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.
Work closely with product managers and designers to create a seamless and engaging user experience.
Ensure high performance and responsiveness of the app.
Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Senior Android Engineer, preferably in a B2C direct-to-consumer app environment.
Strong proficiency in Kotlin and familiarity with Java.
Experience with Android SDK and various Android frameworks.
Ability to independently deliver high-quality code and complete projects on time.
Strong understanding of mobile UI/UX principles.
Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services.
Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a remote team setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with developing and maintaining features related to user discovery and matching in social networking or dating apps.
Familiarity with premium service models and features.
Understanding of the unique challenges and considerations in building and maintaining large-scale consumer applications.
