Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Backend Ruby on Rails Developer to join our Engineering team in San Francisco, Austin, or Toronto, and help us build functional software and web-based applications. Backend Developer responsibilities include creating back-end solutions, building efficient gems & APIs and integrating front-end components. If you’re interested in both getting your hands dirty with writing code from scratch and reviewing other people’s work, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you will contribute in all phases of the software development life cycle, from design to deployment.


Responsibilities:

  • Write high quality, effective and scalable code
  • Build back-end components for web applications
  • Test applications for performance, responsiveness and security
  • Review and debug code
  • Integrate data storage and data processing solutions
  • Build, install and share gems and plugins
  • Create automated test scripts
  • Improve and maintain applications after deployment
  • Coordinate with team members who work on different layers of infrastructure


Requirements:

  • 5+ years work experience as a Software Engineer primarily focused on BackEnd projects
  • 3+ years working with Ruby/ Ruby on Rails
  • BSc in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant field
  • In-depth understanding of object-oriented programming
  • A strong understanding and experience with Ruby/ Ruby on Rails
  • Experience building highly scalable systems
  • Understanding of agile software development
  • Familiarity with automated testing platforms
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Team spirit
  • Hands-on experience writing command-line apps using Ruby libraries, preferred but not required
  • Previous experience developing GraphQL APIs, preferred but not required
  • Expertise in Rails, preferred but not required
  • AWS working knowledge, preferred but not required
