Project description

The client creates media planning software for agencies and advertisers with planning, visualization, flowcharting, and strategy tools capabilities. The planning tool allows businesses to help plan marketing budgets, necessary campaigns, and compare data for more efficient use. The application enables multiple users to work on projects, edit, and combine information. As a result, collaboration and coordination can improve by working on the media plans in a single tool.

Team structure and main responsibilities

The team is integrated and allocated in Poland, Georgia, Ukraine, and Chicago. The team works using Scrum. Communication consists of daily stand-up meetings, feature planning meetings, knowledge sharing, and interpersonal communication.

Senior Database Developer will be a tactical data expert, who will optimize queries, recommend changes to the system’s models that will help with application performance, and lead the transition from SQL Server (Azure) to Postgres (AWS). This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively.

Database skills

• 5+ years MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL development experience
• Good knowledge of SQL Server and PostgreSQL management and maintenance
• Good knowledge of indexing and RDBMS performance strategies
• Excellent understanding of data modeling for efficiency and application performance
• Excellent knowledge of SQL
• Nice to have: Knowledge of Snowflake management and maintenance

Programming skills

• Understanding of Python and data-related frameworks and libraries (Arrow, Pandas, Polars, etc.)
• AWS experience, especially with API Gateway, ECS, Glue, Athena and S3
• Scripting and API development

Business Analysis

• Ability to find insights in data and troubleshoot data issues
• Understand data model for Planning
• Understand business rules for Planning data and tables

Soft skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality
• Ability to organize and plan work independently
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
• English - Upper-Intermediate
