Summary of Role:

Under the general direction of the Director of Data Strategy and Operations, we are seeking a talented and experienced Power BI Developer to join our reporting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. Responsibilities:

Report and Dashboard Development:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards and paginated reports to meet business requirements.
  • Create visually compelling and interactive data visualizations.


Data Modelling:

  • Develop and maintain data models to support Power BI reporting.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity in the Power BI environment.


Query Optimization:

  • Optimize Power BI queries to enhance report performance.
  • Identify and resolve performance issues in collaboration with data engineers and database administrators.


Data Integration:

  • Collaborate with ETL developers to integrate Power BI reports with data from various sources.
  • Ensure seamless data flow between ETL processes and Power BI.


Security Implementation:

  • Implement and maintain security measures within Power BI, ensuring appropriate data access controls.


User Training and Support:

  • Provide training sessions for end-users on navigating and utilizing Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Offer support to users, addressing queries and troubleshooting issues related to Power BI.


Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with business analysts, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with the IT team to integrate Power BI into the overall data architecture.


Documentation:

  • Document Power BI report specifications, data models, and other relevant information.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for ongoing and future development.



Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Power BI certification desirable


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Power BI Developer or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling concepts and best practices.
  • Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M Query language.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data integration.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization principles.
  • MS SQL Server T-SQL (Stored procedures, functions, CTEs, error handling).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.


Experience:

  • Five years of work experience in data and analytics with exposure to SQL Server.
  • Three years of experience with Power BI modelling, architecture, and design which includes Tabulator Editor, DAX Studio, REST API.
  • Five years of exposure to IT architecture and solutioning, for data flows among system and applications.


Decision Making/Interaction:

  • with clients and key stakeholders to establish and deliver requirements.

  • Collaborates with reporting analysts and developers to develop and enhance data and insight from key data inputs.
